Meditation to download below Youtube

Nadi Shodhana

Here I teach how to do Alternate Nostril Breathing, one of the most amazingly transformative breath techniques on the planet!

Once you have tried this, doing it with me as I teach, you can try the meditation below on your own.

The more advanced version of Nadhi Shodhana, using the Bandhas or physical locks, is described further down the page.

Alternate Nostril Breathing & Third Eye Meditation

From CD 'Dancing into the Light'

Alternate Nostril breathing - also known as Nadhi Shodhana - is the most powerful breath technique I've ever practiced. My guides refer to it as an 'Ascension Technique' because it achieves exactly what is needed right now - the integration of the left (divine masculine) and right (divine feminine) brain - plus the awakening of the pineal gland!

It has the effect of clearing your head and relaxing and grounding your body simultaneously - waking you up and calming you down - which places you in a perfect state for meditation/ manifesting practice/channelling, etc. Therefore I recommend that it comes FIRST in your morning meditation practice.

This track is good for starting off your practice as it begins with some 'full yogic breaths' - and it leads you into a quiet third eye meditation so that you can experience the effects of the technique immediately.

UNDERSTANDING NADI SHODHANA

You learn to balance the energies by practising Nadi Shodhana, the Breath of Union – one of the most important techniques on the path to enlightenment! Every physical disease and mental disorder involves an imbalance in male and female energies - Restoring that balance has tremendous healing value.

Nadi Shodhana is an essential exercise for balancing the left and right brain – it quickly brings about a lightness of body and a calm focused mind – ideal before meditation or sleep. It is good for headaches.

The 3 main energy pathways in the body are ida, Pingala and Sushumna.

Ida carries female, lunar, magnetic energy, and relates to the left nostril. Breathing only through Ida promotes a receptive and cooling mood, filled with compassion. (good for calming down, centering, stimulating intuition.)

Pingala carries male, solar, electrical energy. Breathing only through Pingala invokes clarity and creative vision. (good when you are lethargic or foggy-headed, or need to be analytical.)

The 2 channels begin at the perineum (Muladhara), intertwining up the spine with connections at each chakra, and end at the root of the nose. (Ajna)

Sushumna the central channel, follows the spine itself and carries the Kundalini. It runs through the spinal cord within the cerebrospinal fluid, continuing from the medulla oblongata through the ‘psychic bridge’ to the centre of the skull and then out the crown at Sahasrara.

Only when the male and female energies are exactly balanced can the prana spill into Sushumna to be carried upwards to the brain. This is Kundalini arising – and leads to waves of expansion and total rapture - Samarasa.

Understanding the Bandhas/locks: for advanced Nadhi Shodanha

We will use 2 bandhas, or muscular-energy locks. They are incredibly powerful methods for raising both our energy levels and consciousness. They are tools that have been used by the yogis and spiritual elite for eons – and are now accessible to us, as we prepare for The New Age of Light!

The bandhas are muscular-energy locks. They are incredibly powerful methods for raising both our energy levels and consciousness. They are tools that have been used by the yogis and spiritual elite for eons – and are now accessible to us, as we prepare for The New Age of Light!

ROOT LOCK (Moola bandha)
Contract or pull up on the perineum (between the anus and vagina/scrotum) - as women would do in a 'kegel' or pelvic floor exercise. The result is that energy is pushed up the central energy column - the lock acts as both a valve and a plug, preventing energy drainage.

Benefits
: It is of enormous benefit to the nervous and endocrine systems.
Good for sexual balance, conserving energy, constipation, stabilising menstrual periods & balancing Muladhara, the root chakra.

CHIN LOCK (Jalandhara bandha)
Tuck your chin back & slightly down (which gives you a double chin). This compresses your throat, shooting the rising energy through your throat chakra into your third eye.

Benefits: This practice slows the heart rate, calms the mind, stimulates the thyroid gland, and releases blocks in the throat chakra.

BENEFITS OF USING BANDHAS

As we inhale we bring PRANA into the body – which ideally is stored in Manipura, which acts as an energy reservoir. The Root Lock stops energy from being drained, so that Earth energy rises to meet the stored energy at Manipura, and the combined energies can trigger a flow of Kundalini up the spine.
The Chin Lock creates the pressure needed to push the energies up into the spiritual centres in the head, propelling you into higher states of consciousness.

The bandhas assist the efficient functioning of the endocrine and nervous systems. They lower respiration rate, heart rate and blood pressure, thus inducing calmness and relaxation. They stimulate alpha brainwave production, so that profound relaxation is experienced.

Confused and/or crossed neuronal circuits in the brain are reordered, in effect 'retraining the brain.' The digestive system & viscera are toned, massaged and revitalised via pressure on the internal organs.

Although they may seem awkward and unfamiliar at first, in a very short time they become familiar and comfortable – and your EXPERIENCE in the practises will be so enhanced that you will soon realise their value. Practice makes perfect :)

ADVANCED NADI SHODHANA using the locks

Do not try this version until you are absolutely familiar with the basic form as taught above.
This is a powerful technique!

1. Close the right nostril with the thumb of the right hand: Inhale slowly through the left nostril, drawing light/energy up the spine. Apply root lock just after you start breathing in.
At the top of your in-breath apply chin lock, tucking your chin in and slightly down.

2. Hold both locks as you retain your breath and hold the light/energy at Sahasrara.

3. Close the left nostril with the ring-finger, let go of the locks and exhale slowly through the right nostril, letting the energy return to Muladhara.

4. Pause
Repeat in reverse, so you finish holding after exhaling through the left.

This comprises one ‘round’ – do 7 rounds, or as many as you feel like.

Feedback

Hello Solara, I have had two strokes and a heart attack, because of this i have found over time since my last stroke that i had began to lose my short term memory, it was becoming a real pain, talking to people and forgetting halfway what i was talking about, it was getting very embarrassing. Since finding you, and doing the nostril breathing meditation i am no longer conscious of this happening, i am no longer afraid of whats going on around me, i am very conscious though of who i am and the love for others that is with me "all the time now" , not just a feeling in my mortal body but as if my spirit is just outside of it, it is so so easy now to notice the beauty of mother earth and love her for the mother that she really is.Thanks again Solara, i am so happy to be living in the Light once more!
